Abstract
As Virtual Reality (VR) and Metaverse technologies evolve, they reshape numerous domains, including entertainment, education, and healthcare, presenting unprecedented opportunities and significant ethical challenges. This systematic review explores the complex ethical landscapes emerging from integrating these technologies into societal frameworks. It investigates the primary ethical concerns such as data security, user privacy, psychological impacts, and the dynamics of social interactions within these virtual spaces. This paper critically analyzes existing literature, identifies key ethical dilemmas, and evaluates various frameworks and regulatory measures to address these challenges. The study underscores the imperative for developing comprehensive ethical guidelines and robust governance models to guide the development and application of VR and Metaverse technologies. By proposing an integrated approach to ethical decision-making, this paper aims to establish a blueprint for stakeholders to ensure that the technological advancements in VR and the Metaverse advance in a manner that is responsible, respectful of human rights, and conducive to the betterment of society.
