Abstract

A survey design was used to explore tertiary faculty and student attitudes and readiness towards e-learning in a public university in the United Arab Emirates. The on-line surveys for faculty and students included items related to different aspects o e-learning such as time, cost, engagement and involvement, motivation and interest, emotional status, learning and teaching performance, computer skills, flexibility, credibility, communication and interaction, collaboration and readiness. Students expressed positive attitudes towards e-learning in general. Faculty, on the other hand, expressed mixed attitudes towards e-learning although they were willing to engage in teaching e-learning courses on condition that support was provided.
