Abstract

As the world increasingly shifts toward globalization, constructive collaboration in exchanging ideas and expertise is becoming a necessity. Any western venture in developing countries, whether in education or other fields, must take into consideration the local social fabric of the host country. This paper aims at presenting a case study on the introduction of an American-based education technology program in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This undertaking is a part of a 4-year project of school reform for grades K – 12. As the process of planning and implementation unfold serious challenges emerged. Local conditions and circumstances are very different from those prevailing in the US. Nonetheless, the work progressed to produce a comprehensive strategic plan, which was highly praised by the Minister Council and other important sectors of the UAE educational field.
