Abstract

© 2017 Duke University Press. This piece introduces the six brief essays assembled in the themed section “Dwelling.” Comprising ethnographic and historical research from South Africa, China, India, Malaysia, and Zimbabwe, these essays invite cross-regional discussion on the labors and meanings of dwelling under conditions of precarity, migration, militarization, state surveillance, upheaval, and displacement.
