Abstract
This chapter sets out to examine the discourses surrounding the 1975 Referendum and the subsequent processes of Othering and constructions of British national identity. The primary sources used in revealing the rival discourses and ensuing national identities are listed in Appendix 1. The descriptive explanations as well as Tables 2.1 and 2.2 are followed by their respective source number in the appendix. The appendices have all been arranged alphabetically and the numbers in the tables are sequential. Single quotation marks within the tables appear in the original. The quotes, therefore, may not have been necessarily stated by the author of the source but by an individual or group cited within the text.
