Abstract

There are as many purposes and systems for ePortfolios as there are institutions that have adopted them. Their purposes range from having a distinct employer focus through to supporting the institution evidence student progress in an outcomes based curriculum. At Zayed University the ePortfolio has taken a crucial role not only in evidencing student progress against the institutions learning outcomes but has been integrated to the extent that it now plays a crucial role in supporting the program review process of the institution. It does this through cataloguing student evidence and results again established criteria for courses thus providing a powerful set of relationships that facilitates a very rich program review process. This paper covers not only the technical development of the ePortfolio system utilised at Zayed University but also the integrated university processes that have been established around its use.
