Abstract

After providing an overview of global social inequality trends in recent times, this chapter delves into the intricate landscape of income and wealth inequality within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions, one of the most unequal regions of the world. The chapter then, drawing upon Goran Therbron’s analytic framework of existential inequality, goes beyond mere economic dimensions, shining a spotlight on the multifaceted facets of gender and health inequalities prevalent in the MENA region. The narrative not only dwells on social inequality but also illuminates instances of progress and positive change within the MENA region.
