Abstract
Based on a systematic review, this research note scrutinises the regenerative tourism literature from a critical theory perspective. Establishing a nexus between critical theory and regenerative tourism is essential, as the two share similar beliefs and practices. The results show that most of the regenerative tourism literature is not informed by critical theory approaches. By offering opportunities for future research trajectories, this note introduces ‘critical regenerative tourism’ as an approach to regenerative tourism through a critical theory lens.
