Abstract

Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into education transforms how teaching and learning are conducted. AI technologies, such as adaptive learning platforms and intelligent tutoring systems, offer the potential to personalize instruction, provide real-time feedback, and optimize administrative tasks. However, alongside these benefits come challenges related to bias, fairness, transparency, and the need for human oversight. This chapter explores the role of AI in education, emphasizing the critical digital competencies that educators and students must develop to collaborate effectively with AI. It also addresses the ethical considerations associated with AI, including bias mitigation and the promotion of equity. Furthermore, the chapter discusses the challenges and opportunities of incorporating AI into curricula and lifelong learning, highlighting the need for investment in teacher training, equitable access to technology, and robust ethical frameworks to guide AI's responsible use in education. The future of AI in education hinges on fostering both technical and ethical literacy, ensuring that students are proficient in AI technologies and capable of shaping a more just and sustainable digital future.
