Abstract
As the value of U.S. higher education is recognized globally for its effective focus on the learner, transplanting a U.S.-style academic library into another area of the world challenges a growing number of library deans. When the cultural context for an academic library changes, who are the stakeholders, who are the key influencers, and what are their roles in developing the library? Some constituents remain constant despite the international location, while new ones appear as part of the local situation. This article discusses library constituents in developing a U.S.-accredited university in the Middle East and reflects on their contributions to a successful library program. © P. A. Wand.
