Abstract
This chapter explores the multifaceted world of redox flow batteries (RFBs), highlighting their critical role in modern energy storage solutions. It sets the stage for an in-depth exploration of RFBs, including the meticulous selection of materials and components, addressing the operational challenges, reviewing commercial and demonstration projects, offering insights into the performance of existing RFB systems, and analyzing the cost of the most promising technology. The chapter concludes by summarizing the existing challenges and identifying areas for future improvement, aiming to provide a roadmap for ongoing research and development in the field of RFBs.
