Abstract
This chapter explores the impact of cyber behavior on students’ cognitive development, academic performance, and mental well-being within educational settings. Anchored in Cognitive Load Theory and Media Multitasking Theory, this study examines how digital multitasking, prolonged screen exposure, and online social interactions impact attention, memory, and learning outcomes. While unregulated digital behaviors such as excessive multitasking and cyberbullying are shown to impair working memory and academic success, structured digital engagement can enhance cognitive flexibility and problem-solving abilities. Neuroscientific insights are also integrated to highlight how digital interactions reshape brain connectivity and executive function. The chapter calls for the implementation of evidence-based educational strategies, digital literacy programs, and policy reforms aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 to ensure safe, inclusive, and cognitively supportive digital learning environments.
