Abstract

The research investigates how a smart interior design consultation system would enhance home functionality and accessibility for middle-income residents in the United Arab Emirates. The research combines survey data from 100 participants with 10 interview participants to determine the main problems homeowners encounter when they lack design expertise, face budget restrictions, and struggle with current smart technology systems. The research shows that users want accessible design platforms which provide individualized suggestions and virtual reality and augmented reality visualization tools, and accommodations for elderly and mobility-i mpaired users. The research demonstrates how artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technology enable designers to create adaptive design solutions which adjust to users’ changing requirements in real time. The research findings offer specific guidance to designers and developers and policymakers who want to enhance digital accessibility in home design.
