Abstract

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) became a significant feature that has had a significant impact on road safety, driving performance, and driver awareness. With the rapid development in autonomous driving technologies, the integration of context-aware computing, artificial intelligence, and sensor fusion has enabled vehicles to perceive and response more effectively to dynamic traffic environment. However, there are still monumental issues in the attainment of credible situational awareness, sound decision making, and smooth human-machine interaction. This paper presents a comprehensive systematic review of ADAS and context-aware autonomous driving technologies using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework. Reverent literature was collected from different databases including Scopus, IEEE XPLORE and ScienceDirect methodology methods. The study analysed the evolution of ADAS architecture, key enable technologies and their applications. Furthermore, the study evaluates the limitations of existing system including challenges related to sensor reliability, environmental uncertainty, system interpretability, and driver trust. The results highlight the fact that connected and automated driving assistant systems represent a significant shift towards adaptive and human-centred vehicle intelligence. The recommendation for future work addresses the importance of work on AI ethics, enhance human-machine cooperation, combine various datasets, and establish scalable validation models. Such initiatives are crucial in an effort to have a safeand comprehensive-transition to autonomous mobility and give academics and decision-makers the evidence-based strategies to implement.
